Gut and biofilm protocol

Gut issues are extremely common.  Many people have an unhealthy balance of bacteria in their gut.  This can cause gut symptoms, immune dysfunction, brain fog and many other issues.  This protocol is a mouth to bottom approach, working through the various issues that tend to happen.

This is the full cleanse.  You can take SOS andDetox Phase 1/ Shield/ bind (and /or Hepar Support) only for a more simple cleanse.

  1. Serrapeptase (80,000 IU, enteric coated.  Should be able to find it online for about 12-13 quid for 90).  Take 3-4 30 mins before food to help digest the biofilm, and also as anti-inflammatories .  Not essential but very advisable for you.  Time Health Systemic proteolytic enzymes (Amazon) are also excellent, and easier to find at the moment.  https://amzn.to/4fZGkaE
  • Butyrate and glutamine tablets – for repair of the gut lining.  Time health do excellent tributyrate supplements https://amzn.to/46VXeTF  take 2, 3x day with food, L- glutamine tablets are pretty available.  You want to take 4-8g day glutamine with food.  https://amzn.to/4fYe1JS
  • SOS Advance https://amzn.to/4nUsqtK –.  Start with 5ml 2x day, increase slowly up to 10ml 3x day.   Take with 2 dropperfuls Shield  and 2 of Hepar support  to start with.   You will need at least 3 bottles SOS.
  • If you feel ‘toxic’, nauseous, headachy or more tired, or have any other ‘odd’ symptom, you may be killing off parasites at a rate that causes more toxins to be released from dying parasites than your body can tolerate.

SOS  causes the release of toxins from the gut and blood.  These toxins can stress the liver and kidneys and make you feel unwell – dizziness, fatigue, confusion, nausea or just feeling grotty or ‘off’ can happen.  Take extra micro-C to counteract and drop the dose of SOS to a lower level for a day or two.

You may not always need the Detox Phase 1, but best to use for the first week to two weeks, as this is usually the toughest and where you will see toxin related effects if you are going to see them.   After 2 weeks, the dose of Detox Phase 1 may be able to be dropped to 1 squirt of each.  Everyone is different,.

  • Betaine HCl with Pepsin tablets just before eating (if needed after bicarbonate test).  Start with recommended dose.   Gradually increase dose until some very mild burning sensation in the stomach starts after eating, then reduce the dose to just under this threshold.  Generally a higher dose is needed with a larger or more protein rich meal. https://amzn.to/3X0nl7r

Bicarbonate test – Do when stomach empty and you are hungry.  ½ tsp bicarb in a small amount of water.  Mix and swallow straight away.  Count burp amount and how long it took to get started.  Burping a lot is an indication stomach acid is decent.  Very few to none – need to supplement to increase acid levels.  Burps should start within the first minute if stomach acid levels are good.  Family burp contests have happened as a result of this test advice….

The reason for this recommendation is than many people have low stomach acid due to gut dysbiosis/ age/ stress/ nutritional deficit or other reasons, and this takes out the first line of defense for the gut, and increases the risk of fermentation of food in the gut, leading to auto-toxicity. Supporting stomach acid production aids normal digestion.  Even more effective if food is chewed well.

  • After 2-3 weeks of this, Probiotics or kefir 5-10 mins before food in the evening and also before bed , also beneficial yeasts – saccromyces boulardii is good.  EM-1 (recipe can be provided if wished))  – 2 tbsp.

It is usually possible to do this 2x day.  For the third  (middle)dose, you can just take SOS  advance and Detox Phase 1

I highly recommend adding a source of soluble fibre to your meals – psyllium husks are excellent and most people tolerate them.  Mix with water/ juice and swallow straight away, otherwise it sets like a jelly.  If this does not improve bowel frequency, then Vitamin C or magnesium taken at a dose above bowel tolerance will push things through.  Ideally we want 2 bowel movements per day, but any improvement is good.

General liver support-  to aid toxin excretion.  These are optional, but can really help.

  • Fresh lemon squeezed into cold water- great in the morning.  Lemon has to be freshly cut open, it loses its liver benefiting properties after a few hours.
  • Turmeric – add to any food you can.
  • Cranberries with their seeds
  • Unpasturised apple cider vinegar for salad dressings, or mixed with a little honey and added to warm water as a drink
  • Epsom salt baths – 400g per bath.  Order online as it is very expensive in shops
  • Making your own kefir – have a look online for methods and cultures.  Fantastic for the gut and immune system as well as the liver.  If you want to make kefir using nut/hemp/coconut milks look for water kefir. Raw sauerkraut or kimchi is also very useful/
  • Chew food well, at least 10-15 bites per mouthful.
  • Eat in a relaxed, concious way – you body using food more beneficially this way than eating on the run.

Remember that having fun, laughing and doing what brings joy to you is also very important for your health and well being.   Live life to the full, laugh, do daft things, treat yourself, let off steam, only be really sensible 80-90% of the time regarding food.
