Cleaning up the world, one person at a time
Dr Fiona Dann Ray MSc Applied Toxicology, MSc Chiropractic.
Key points:
Detox is the systematic removal of toxic metals and chemicals from the body. This is different to ‘gut cleaning’.
The human body does not remove toxic metals and chemicals that are new in our environment well or completely.
Ultra micronised Chlorella is effective at removing toxic metals and chemicals from the body.
Removing toxic chemicals and metals from the body can improve mental and physical health.
A recent article in Schweizer Familie said that the gut doesn’t need cleaning and that detox doesn’t work.
There are some fundamental errors in the article I’d like to correct. I have an MSc in Applied toxicology, as well as three other health and science based degrees as well as working and researching in the area of detox, so am well qualified to know what is correct.
Detox as a term can mean many different things to many different people. The article seems to mix up colonic irrigation, clean eating and Chinese ‘detox’ sticking plasters for the foot and consider that . Proper systemic detox that removes toxic metals and chemicals from the body is very different to seven days of juicing and a colonic irrigation.
Toxic metal and chemical detox is rather different. There are many scientific studies that show chlorella (an algae) works to bind toxic chemicals such as dioxins and bisphenol A, toxic metals such as mercury, arsenic, aluminium and lead[1]
The article also stated that the body needs no help with detox. This is also incorrect. Thanks to the creation of many thousands of new chemicals in our factories, and mining and use of toxic metals in a form and amount not seen before, we are exposed to toxins our bodies have not evolved to deal with. We simply lack the ability to get them out of the body. These are not toxins that sit in ’sludge in the gut’. Rather they are in our cells, body fat, bones and organs, and yes, some in the gut. Many of us need an effective toxic metal and chemical detox to help us remove them. Many different toxins cause problems with our health, as shown in the picture below.
As an example, let’s look at Mercury. Levels in our bodies are many times higher than in ancient times. We are exposed to this toxic metal from silver fillings in our teeth (50% mercury), Vaccines (if you are over 13) , in the womb from our mothers as mercury crosses the placenta, from fish, particularly large fish such as mackerel, Tuna, Swordfish and shark, the burning of fossil fuels, and skin lightening creams. Mercury binds to proteins in our cells. It is a so called ‘retention toxicity, and much of the mercury taken into the body is absorbed by the solid tissues’ . WHO, 1991. The half-life of mercury, that is the time taken to remove ½ from the body is 27 years according to autopsy studies[2].
The effect on the body and mind can be profound. The phrase ‘As mad as a hatter’ is commonly used in English. People who made hats were exposed to high levels of mercury during some of the processes used, and consequently became insane.
Joachim Mutter of the University of Fribourg listed a whole raft of health issues connected with mercury[3]
Doesn’t it make sense to detox? We know Chlorella binds mercury. DMPS and EDTA bind mercury. Reducing the level of mercury in the body has been linked to reduced symptoms, from weakness and heart arrhythmia[5], to autism symptoms[6], Rheumatoid arthritis symptoms[7], anxiety and depression to name but a few.
The article said chlorella didn’t work. The evidence in the scientific literature disagrees.
We know that chlorella works to
In practice, I and many others have seen profound changes in people who have completed effective detox . We have many examples. The lady whose thyroid function went from 0 to normal after amalgam removal and detox with ultra-micronised chlorella, the boy who used to be autistic and epileptic, who now lives a normal life , the depressed and anxious man who used to need B12 injections every three weeks, who now has improved mental health and no need for B12.
A Client’s story.
‘I grew up as a social mis-fit at School, finding it difficult if not impossible to fit in with my classmates. I was bullied. Academic work was not a problem but the social side of school was tough. I was also hopeless at sports, finding it very hard to catch a ball, and being generally clumsy. At university, again the social side of things caused a lot of anxiety. I had to constantly be on alert and watch to try and pick up all the social cues. I was diagnosed as having anxiety and depression, anorexia, irritable bowel syndrome and then as being on the mild end of the autistic spectrum. I thought I was going crazy and wondered how I’d get through the rest of my life. I did a course where the tutor asked us to put a probe for a amp meter into my mouth, as people with 2 or more metal containing fluids will have a galvanic current running through the saliva (this is why people with metal fillings hate biting onto a piece of aluminium foil). The tutor said that anything over 50mA indicated fillings leaking metal and that they’d even had someone with over 200mA. My score was 350mA! Getting the fillings changed stopped things getting worse. It was only when I did a systematic toxic metal and chemical detox using micronised chlorella based products that I saw real change. I got happy. I could add up long columns of figures without losing my place, I could connect with people far more easily. My vision changed. It was like putting on the 3D glasses at the cinema, suddenly everything popped out. I had true binocular vision for the first time in my life. I could catch a ball. It suddenly explained my previous difficulties. My life began properly in my 20’s’
So why the problem?
This is not an unusual story.
Babies born nowadays are coming into the world with a cocktail of toxic chemicals and metals in their bodies. Studies done on umbilical cord blood have found 232 toxic man-made chemicals and metals in 10 newborn babies[11].
There is evidence that small doses of many chemicals and metals work synergistically to have a far greater toxic effect. For instance the dose of lead that kills 1 in 100 mice, and the dose of mercury that kills 1 in 100 mice, when give together kill 100/100[12].
It’s scary and could well explain the epidemic of mental health, physical health and developmental issues we are seeing in children.
Proper detox that removes toxic metals and chemicals from the body is needed, is effective and has evidence to prove it works. It has the power to change people’s lives for the better and prevent ill-health, disease and great unhappiness. Many people have been toxic their entire lives and have never known who they could be. Detox can set people free. Detox works.
