Cleaning up the world, one person at a time
Gut and Biofilm Protocol: The rebuild – brain and mind side.
Gut issues are extremely common. Many people have an unhealthy balance of bacteria in their gut. This can cause gut symptoms, immune dysfunction, brain fog and many other issues. This protocol is a mouth to bottom approach, working through the various issues that tend to happen. There are no antibacterials or anti fungals in this protocol, it is designed to rebalance gut flora by creating the right environment for a healthy flora to thrive.
For lasting gut health, it is important to look at the effect of the mind on the gut. Chronic stress is a major driver of gut dysfunction. We also do have to remember that effects run the other way too. A dysbiotic inflamed and leaky gut causes inflammation and changed function in the brain too. Anxiety and depression are just two of the mental health conditions that have links to the health of the gut.
The following section explains the effects of stress on the gut. You don’t have to read it, but for those who need to know why, and for those who need a reason why they need to do something, here it is.
The Why and How of it all:
Stress – the bane of modern life, is also very destructive on the gut. The first thought people tend to have is that they have stress in their lives that they can’t do much about at the moment, so they feel like they can’t do anything to help themselves. Whilst we can’t alter what is happening around us, where we do have control is how that stress affects us. There are various ways to manage stress, and it is very helpful to incorporate several different methods into your daily life.
The part of our nervous system that controls all the automatic functions of the body (digestion, heartbeat speed, breathing, sweating, goosebumps, blood vessel size etc) is called the autonomic nervous system.
There are two parts to the autonomic nervous system. The parasympathetic system is the part that does the ‘rest and digest’ functions. Your body will be relaxed, able to repair, have good blood supply to the gut and digest food properly. The good blood supply to the gut gets the right amount of oxygen to the lining of the gut to keep it in good repair, and is also very important for supplying oxygen to the beneficial bacteria in the gut.
When we are chronically stressed, the sympathetic nervous system is over dominant. This is the part of our nervous system designed to get us away from danger. It’s the ‘Fight, fright, flight, freeze’ responses. Blood supply gets diverted from our digestive organs, and to the heart, lungs and muscles so that we can run away from trouble as fast as we can. When we are in a sympathetic nervous system dominant state our brains are hyper alert, looking for threat, anxious and afraid. It’s an underlying state of ‘where’s the tiger, there is a tiger somewhere, it might get me, where is it, there’s a tiger, I can’t find the tiger, I have to know where it is, where’s the tiger’ on a fairly constant basis. This system served us well when we were hunter gatherers and living in less civilised times. We would have short periods of intense stress, then go back to our normal relaxed state. Modern life has made these stress responses into more of a constant lower level activation, and so leading to loss of balance in the nervous system, with too much time spent in a stress state. Our brains cannot tell the difference between a real threat and one created by our thoughts. Many people experience chronic emotional stress, work stress, financial stress, relationship stress etc, and this keeps them in a sympathetic dominant state. Much of the content we access on social media on our phones is also high in conflict, perceived danger, suspense, the doom, gloom and danger of 24hr world and national news, true crime reports and re-enactments etc. Our brains perceive this as if it was happening to us, and this again provokes a stress response. Pretty quickly we are in a sympathetic dominant state for all our waking hours.
The impact of being in a sympathetic dominant state (SDS) is huge. We produce the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline to exert many of the effects of our stress response. These are not meant to be constantly released in our bodies. Excess cortisol is associated with increased inflammation in our bodies, increased abdominal fat, increased release of glucose into the blood, changed immune responses, suppression of the digestive system, suppression of the reproductive system, poor sleep, increased risk of heart disease and high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
The reason the sympathetic nervous system dominant state is so problematic in the gut is that the diversion of blood away from the digestive system leads to a drop in oxygen supply to the lining of the intestines. The Lining of the gut struggles to maintain the proper barrier between the contents of the gut (food particles, bacteria, yeasts, fungi, viruses) and the blood supply flowing from the gut to the liver. Food fragments, bacterial fragments and toxins then get into the blood stream and this leads to body-wide low level inflammation. Chronic low level inflammation is a driver of many chronic physical and mental health conditions. In addition the gut doesn’t repair properly and the gut flora is undersupplied with oxygen, leading to loss of beneficial gut flora, and increased levels of detrimental, dysbiotic flora. The delicate balance of the gut microbiome is disrupted, again leading to gut issues, inflammation and ill-health.
What to do about it:
Retrain the brain.
A major principle in neuroscience is that Neurons(nerve cells) that fire together wire together. This means that the more often we think of a certain situation, opinion of our selves, awful event, humiliation, stressful situation etc, the more wired into our brain that thought becomes and the more likely we are to go down that track, and cause the subsequent activation of our stress response and release of stress hormones, with their effect on our guts.
Vagal tone – for balancing up the nervous system into a more repair and regenerative state. There are many different vagal tone exercises and techniques online. Select ones that work for you and your life. Aim to include some of these practices daily.
Sleep
We cannot overstate the importance of good sleep. Many people are sleep deprived and do not get 7-8 hours good quality sleep. Health issues are much more common for those who get less than 5 hours sleep a night. We use sleep to do a not of renewing, repairing and household tasks for the body. This includes the cell equivalent of taking out the rubbish. We need sleep time to do this clean up and reset.
Eating
This section is not about what you eat, it is about how and when you eat, which is also very important.
Remember that having fun, laughing and doing what brings joy to you is also very important for your health and well being. Live life to the full, laugh, do daft things, treat yourself, let off steam, only be really sensible 80-90% of the time regarding food.
Microplastics are pieces of broken down plastic less than 5mm. Nanoplastics are smaller than 1 micrometer. They have been found in water and foods that we eat, in the air we breath. They are everywhere. Microplastics have been found in the human placenta, testicles, penis, heart, gut, liver – really everywhere. It is predicted that we will have double the amount of microplastics in our bodies by 2040. Microplastics accumulate in our bodies and the location and amount of these plastics is ‘markedly correlated with corresponding lesions and diseases’. Inflammatory bowel disease, cervical cancer, DNA damage and changes in gene activity that are a risk factor tied to cancer are just some of the current concerns with microplastic contamination. There is great concern that microplastic cross the blood brain and gut brain barriers to drive the progression of neurodegenerative disease[1].
This image shows the level of microplastics found in many different areas of the body.

This is a concise information sheet to give you tools to assist through the COVID 19 pandemic.
We have looked at nutrients and herbs that are known to be useful as anti-virals, and have looked at the SARS data as to what was of most assistance. SARS is the closest relative to the novel coronavirus we are now dealing with, so most likely the most useful data too.
We have put together a suggested supplement and herb approach for preventing infection and for supporting the body when COVID 19 infection is suspected/diagnosed. It aims to boost the body’s reserves and minimise complications.
One feature of COVID-19 that is notable is that severity level of the infection in the intensive care setting was linked to low potassium levels, and that giving potassium helped to improve the condition of those affected[1].
Potassium is a nutrient in which deficiency is common, often due to overconsumption of sodium (salt) as well as poor intake. A list of potassium rich foods is here[2]: https://www.myfooddata.com/articles/food-sources-of-potassium.php
For supplements, potassium citrate is often used. For some this can cause digestive distress. The most food-like and well tolerated form is potassium gluconate. A total potassium intake over one day should not exceed 4700mg as there is no longer any benefit.
For any virus, there are 4 areas that can be worked on:
1)Anti virals
Licorice is an excellent antiviral[3]and was useful in reducing the severity of SARS[4][5]infections.
Of the minerals, zinc[7]and iodine are good antivirals, selenium can be useful too.
2)Stop viral replication (increase in numbers of virus particles in the body)
Nutrients that support a metabolic process called methylation also help prevent viral replication. Methylated/ active forms of B vitamins (MTHF, folinic acid, methylcobalamin, P5P etc).
NAC is an excellent inhibitor of viral replication[8].[9]
3)Support the immune system
Vitamin D helps correct immune function and is usually in short supply at this time of year, as the store from last summer is used up and the sunlight reaching us is not yet strong enough for vitamin D production in the skin.
Medicinal mushrooms such as Reishi, AHCC[10](extract) shitake, maitake all have immune supporting actions.
A low or lower carbohydrate diet is also helpful. Sugars tend to be immunosuppressive.
Probiotics and decent protein levels in the diet are also useful.
4) Support general health.
It is easy to forget in all the panic that a large part of resisting an infection is looking after your general health. Just as a seed needs fertile ground in which to grow, a virus needs a supportive environment to be able to take hold and infect.
Staying as relaxed, happy, positive and cheerful as possible can make a difference. Laughing[11]is known to be a great immune system tonic.
Getting enough sleep has huge health benefits. Exercise (but not to extremes) helps too. A diet rich in whole foods, fruit, veg and good fats is also very important. Social connection is vital too – so webcams, phone calls etc. are helpful too. Being out in the sun in your garden to soak up the rays and support your mood also very helpful.
AV19 and RE-AHCC
We have been researching COVID-19 as the situation has unfolded and have developed a formula to support people during this time. As of 23/3/20 we are probably about two weeks away from having it available.
Protocols
preventative protocol COVID 19
With this guide we have a protocol for prevention, and for when infection is suspected, symptomatic or confirmed. The latter is the acute protocol.
Frequency of dosing is important in an acute situation, as is starting to take the herbs and nutrients as symptoms start. Once the symptoms are more set in or advanced, there is much less that can be done with natural substances. This advice does not replace standard medical care. If difficulty/distress with breathing becomes an issue, medical help must be sought.

Smart Watch – the issues
Dr Timothy Ray LiAc OMD
When taking case histories and muscle testing clients, we noticed an interesting issue. For some people, their smart watch was causing some problems.
A particular issue specific to smart watches is the green light shining onto the wrist and the wifi function being particularly located at the wrist, a site of many acupuncture meridians. We have seen varying degrees of blocked autonomic regulation. This equates to the dialogue between the brain and the internal organs being disturbed, thus the intelligence of regulation reverts to automatic, or organ based habituation instead of the required adaptability and variability (so important for normal heart function per the HRV test).
Smart watches sit where a watch normally sits, on the top or knuckle side of the wrist. This is where the TCM Triple Warmer Meridian flows. The TW is the Yang aspect of the Pericardium Meridian, also knows as the Protector of the Heart. The pericardium is an envelope, or protective sheath surrounding the heart.
In TCM the organs are though of as being paired, solid organs to hollow organs. For example the Liver is a solid organ, and it is paired with the hollow Gall Bladder. The hollow organ expresses the Yang aspect of that pair. The Yang aspect denotes function, outward going, forceful, rising and hot energy. The Yin aspect encompasses structure, rest, nutritive status, and reserve strength. The specific acupuncture point from the TW Meridian where a wrist watch normally sits is usually in between TW 4 and 5, both important treatment points for systemic regulation. The TW regulates the endocrine system and water metabolism, it can also effect the balance of Yin and Yang in the body, and all tissues local to its pathway.
What happens to the flow of Qi and Blood in that meridian when exposed to a continuous green laser frequency, a quartz crystal oscillation, and a WiFi signal?
The green laser is used to sedate exuberant energy, and can be used to kill microbes. If you continuously sedate the Yang protector of the Heart, you are removing its defenses to some degree physically, mentally and emotionally. The more Yang deficient the person is, the greater the disturbance.
A quartz crystal oscillation is not necessarily a bad vibe, but it is not intrinsic to or required by the TW to function, thus, a disturbance, a distraction at best.
A WiFi signal is pernicious, proven in countless studies to cause cellular deregulation, its perniciousness amplified by the length and proximity of exposure.
From this you can probably understand why and how the Smart Watch block autonomic regulation.
Will people wearing Smart Watches all come down with heart and endocrine diseases? Probably not, but there will be a continuous weakening of the system, and depending on how compromised the genetics, nutrition and general health are, could easily be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. If you put the Smart Watch on for a few minutes, get the readings, and then take it off, I don’t think it can hurt you. At least take if off at night or when you don’t absolutely need it.
Glyphosate and Aluminium are both toxic and neurotoxic in their own right, but together they have a far greater impact on the body.
Glyphosate is the main ingredient in Roundup, a widely used herbicide and insecticide.
Drs Seneff and Exley have done extensive research on Aluminium, and now the exponential effect of Glyphosate on aluminium toxicity.

In Memory of Dr. Hong-Yen Hsu.
Dr. Hong-Yen Hsu, founder of Sun Ten Pharmaceutical Taiwan, was my mentor during Acupuncture College. One day in late 1979 we went to the factory just outside of Taipei. There were massive stainless steel tanks in the 5000 liter range filled with herbs being boiled, dozens of people, mountains of herbs….. and the fog. It was a very thick fog and the smell of the herbs was pungent and strong. I asked Dr. Hsu what happened to the workers who were breathing the vapors? He smiled and said “pretty smart for a white boy” and went on to explain that they all, all of them, either got well or didn’t get sick. So what was in that steam? Essential oils.
I tried to duplicate the effect using a formula of concentrates but it was not as effective – because they had not solved the problem of the escaping essential oils yet. Years later I made Forest with herbs that still contained the oils, and had invented the Vital Terrain Analysis. I could test the impact of the h and formula on human biochemistry. The “Forest” formula behaved like an anti-depressant and was close to being a ‘normalizer’, meaning that it pointed the metabolism towards homeostasis. Very effective but difficult and expensive to make.
Twenty years later I was diagnosed with inoperable Stage 2b squamous cell carcinoma of the lung for which they could not do surgery, radiation or chemo. I bubbled medical grade ozone through a multi faceted formula of pure organic essential oils in water and inhaled that for several minutes twice a day. The tumor shrank 35%, confirmed by pre and post CT scans, in 6 weeks. That was enough to allow a surgeon to remove the remaining tumor and I lived.
And then, my 3 year old son got a wicked cough. I ran some Thyme in a essential oil diffuser at his bedside and the cough stopped within minutes. If there is any hint of illness coming on these days, at our house we run the ultrasonic diffusers 24/7. You can too.
We find it useful for treating kids and the elderly when it’s difficult to administer regular dosing especially through the night. A direct inhalation of the vapor within a few inches of it escaping the device is a strong dose; once it’s diffused in the air a weak dose. Please see the E.Oils protocols for specifics
I think back to that wonderful moment with my generous mentor. There were the two of us, reasonably intelligent people, standing there as the terpenes and any other curative volatiles made haste for the heavens, and didn’t realize that the people getting well from the concentrated herbs were not only the patients who were buying it but in those days, the workers in the factory who were making it.
Welcome to the Detoxicology website.
We’re a team of researchers and practioners who have been working to assist people in regaining their health. Instead of looking at a condition or diagnosis, we have asked the question ‘Why did this person become ill in the first place?’
For many the answer lies in the toxic metals, chemicals, moulds, electromagnetic and environmental pollution they have been exposed to from in-utero to the present day.
For many people ‘detox’ is a few days of juicing / no alcohol/ healthy food and maybe a colonic irrigation if you’re being serious about it. Here we have a different definition. By detox we mean removing the toxic metals and chemicals, dealing with the mould and yeast issues, reducing exposure to and absorption of current pollutants and toxins, and repair of the damage done by toxins over the lifetime. We’re research and evidence driven. Most of all we are patient driven. We’re always looking for answers. We’re always asking questions. We’re Detoxicologists.
